A note from the artist (est. 2020)
I've spent this entire past year working on my newest tour program, Sweet Seasons: The Music of Carole King. This show is something I'd been openly talking about doing since August of 2019 but was hesitant to take on because I worried I couldn't do it well enough to fill Carole King's shoes. I created a teaser video back in March of this year and then kept it under wraps until it premiered at the Milton Theatre this September. I've spent these past months studying King's music, from every record, to every live performance. I've watched every interview, reading and re-reading her memoir, A Natural Woman, to get to know her as intimately as possible. I did away with sheet music for the first time in my life, learning every song by ear, keeping strictly and honestly to both her original arrangements and live versions of her music. It's essential to me that the audiences hear these songs how King meant for them to sound.
As I knew but have come to understand even more so, Carole King's music and legacy are universal. It has been the most enjoyable yet most challenging work of my life, creating a show that authentically pays tribute to someone else's life's work. King is by far my biggest inspiration, not only as a musician but as a human being. This show is my most proud accomplishment. I look forward to bringing Sweet Seasons to a venue near you!
